“What are you now, the fashion police?”
Potrero Planning Board member Mary Johnson, speaking to a citizen who questioned her impartiality for wearing
a Blackwater T-shirt to a planning board meeting at which Blackwater’s proposed project was on the agenda.

“There is no evidence whatsoever from Ohio or anywhere else to suggest Michael
Vu has acted in anything other than an honorable and professional fashion."

San Diego County spokesperson Mike Workman said in a statement praising San Diego’s newly hired Assistant
Registrar of Voters.  As an Ohio election official, Vu oversaw two employees convicted of felony election rigging in a
recount of the 2004 presidential election; the sentencing judge stated that he believed Vu’s employees were
covering for a higher up.

“The administrator seems to be listening to the wish lists of the polluters."

California Senator Barbara Boxer, speaking about Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) administrator Stephen
Johnson in a hearing of the Senate Subcommittee on Clean Air and Nuclear Safety.

“I wish you a great time at your “Destroy the American Economy Party” and hope
signing meaningless documents makes you feel better about a future that is in
God’s hands alone.”

Santee Mayor Randy Voepel, in an e-mail response sent to a citizen who invited him to attend a climate change
awareness event and sign a climate protection agreement that 650 U.S. mayors have already signed.  Voepel
declined, adding
“I like it hot.”

“Frankly, they are getting the cake and eating it, too,” --
San Diego County Supervisor Dianne
Jacob, who voted to take away lifetime healthcare benefits from County retirees drawing pensions.

“My entire life has been devoted to public service and I'm deeply sorry I did not set
a better example in this instance.” –
Jose Betancourt, chief administrative officer for San Diego Unified
School District, after pleading guilty to violating a federal law that forbids high-level government officials from
lobbying former employers for a year after leaving office.

--“Ann Coulter is a very articulate spokesperson for the conservative
view…Especially since Ann Coulter has said nice things about me she is closely
approaching that level of being a great American,” –
Congressman Duncan Hunter (R-Alpine),
asked whether Elizabeth Edwards was justified in asking Coulter to stop personal attacks on her family.
 
(Coulter had urged listeners to display bumper stickers reading `Ask John Edwards about his dead son.’)
